Organic Electronics

Organic electronics refers to a method of creating electronic devices that utilizes organic materials such as plastics in place of traditional semiconductors, combined with large area, high volume deposition and patterning processes.  Organic Large Area Electronics (OLAE), plastic or polymer electronics, printed electronics, flexible electronics, large area or thin film electronics all fall under the umbrella term “Organic Electronics,” a technology that has a broad range of potential applications in rapidly growing areas such as flexible displays, OLED lighting, medical/chemical sensors, organic photovoltaics, flexible batteries and RFID.

Tamarack Scientific is uniquely positioned to address the ever-changing needs of the market with its line of excimer and solid state laser systems for processing organic large area electronics.  Tamarack’s laser ablation systems directly etch a circuit pattern onto a substrate using an environmentally friendly, one-step dry process that eliminates  the use of conventional multi-step photolithographic processes.  Tamarack’s excimer roll-to-roll (R2R) laser systems can pattern a single circuit with potentially a single pulse, enabling throughput as high as 1 million circuits per hour.  This high-repetition methodology allows electronics to be quickly and accurately produced in high volumes at relatively low total cost, while maintaining a high quality end-product.
